Help Community Empowerment by bringing education to children in remote areas by funding a Village Learning Center for 2 years.
Cost of a Village Learning Centers - $7,500 per center for 2 years
- The Village Learning Center is similar to ‘school in a box’ and we are beginning to put these ‘education packages’ in remote areas where there are no schools, even within walking distance for the children.
- Often they will be established in one of the churches we have constructed. They can be divided in 4 classrooms by hanging a tarp on ropes down the middle of the church and segmenting it off into 4 individual classrooms. Then Monday to Friday, they operate as a village learning center.
- In these village learning centers, there are teachers, some who live in the village and some who have been brought in who are qualified to do basic academic courses at different levels. This includes Math, Reading, Writing and other courses are added for 4th level.
- We have the curriculum partnership with a missionary who wrote “Roots to Fruits” curriculum. It has taken the Uganda government course requirements, put it on Biblical foundation, character development, work ethics, cognitive thinking, accelerated learning, and taken what is similar to a Christian homeschool curriculum and merged it with the Ugandan requirements.
- We provide training for the use of the curriculum “Roots to Fruits”, set up the school, walk with them for 2 years until they become independent and self-sustaining. Ultimately, the goal is to attach these VLC’s with a women empower- ment project so that the women who are earning a livelihood can pay, even minimal, school fees per child so that the teachers can be supported by those school fees. The VLC can be sustainable once we activate it and get it off the ground.
