SD Coastal Rotary 10,000 Meal Packaging Event

The San Diego Coastal Rotary Club would like to invite all 5340 district Rotarians to participate in an important and fun service project.

When:  Saturday, Sept 12 from 9am-2pm (you can sign up for early shift, late shift or both shifts)

What:  We will be packaging dry food that can later be made quickly and easily into full nutritious meals by adding water and heating. We will be in partnership with the Outreach Program (outreachprogram.org). We will be creating 10,000 meals (or perhaps more) during the event and the meals will be given to Jacobs Cushman Food Bank (sandiegofoodbank.org) for distribution to local families.

Why: The pandemic has forced many in our community into food insecurity. These are highly nutritious meals that will help local families in need.

Who and How Many: This is open to all Rotarians in the district. We will need about 50-60 volunteers working in two shift to complete the packaging. 

Cost: To package 10,000 meals, it will cost $3000; so I'm asking each volunteer to donate $50 by way of purchasing a ticket. You can also ask your fellow Rotarians for a direct donation. If we raise more than $3000, the money will go directly to Jacobs Cushman Food…
