As a locally born and raised Arizona artist, Tonya finds painting to be a form of meditation that allows her to be present in the moment and mindful of the world around. You can often times find her hiking and painting outdoors next to a cactus.
This metal butterfly sculpture, painted in a porcelain-inspired style, draws a parallel between the vibrant colors of butterflies and the bold indigo designs of blue and white porcelain. Just as a butterfly’s wings display striking contrasts, the blue hues on white porcelain symbolize how diverse elements within communities come together to create unity.
