Small - 12 inch butterfly
Inspired by the butterfly's ocelli, which are the tricky little eyes that some butterflies have to scare predators. They're ingenious. Practically placed on the edges of the wings, away from the body of the butterfly. That way if they are attacked, it won't mortally wound them, and they might be able to get away. Nature is so smart. Adaptation is amazing. The Scottish word "jal-an-jay" for butterfly means fire of God...as they always seem to appear out of nowhere, like a flickering flame. This is a nod to Heather's ancestors. Heather is a Phoenix based abstract expressionist and multimedia artist. She loves the exploration of line, shape and form.
