Backpacks for Youth

Since 2012, The Rotary Club of Anaheim has provided backpacks to students of the Anaheim. In this program, we annually provide hundreds of backpacks stuffed with all of the school supplies the students will need for their school year. These backpacks are provided to lessor affluent elementary school students in the district who would otherwise have to do without these necessary classroom supplies. Backpacks are also provided to the Orange County Family Justice Center Foundation, for distribution to their clients.

Unfortunately, due to COVID, the backpack program had to experience some changes in 2020. Instead of compiling backpacks as a group, supplies and backpacks were distributed using existing food distributions at the Magnolia School District. Although there was minimal interaction, the students received their supplies and backpacks.

in 2021, we were back, assembling backpacks in person, however, distribution was a drop off with minimal interaction at Salk Elementary, Savannah Elementary and at the Orange County Family Justice Center.

This year, we are back in full force. On August 27, 2020, we will be assembling 504 backpacks. An Assembly line process will be used. In addition…
