Parentis Foundation   

Parentis Foundation is the nonprofit affiliate of Parentis Health, a senior care organization committed to empowering lives at every stage. Rooted in the belief that dignity, purpose, and connection should be accessible to all, Parentis Foundation fulfills this mission by bridging generations to address two critical community needs: childhood literacy and older adult engagement. Our flagship program, Empowering Readers OC (EROC), pairs trained volunteers aged 50 and older with at-risk students in grades 1–5 who are reading below grade level. Tutors provide weekly one-to-one literacy support at high-need elementary schools and Boys & Girls Club sites across Orange County. This proven intergenerational model strengthens reading skills, boosts student confidence, and fosters meaningful mentor relationships. By helping young students become successful readers, Empowering Readers OC breaks down barriers to academic success and future opportunity—while giving older adults a rewarding way to stay active, connected, and impactful in their communities.
