Parentis Foundation   

Parentis Foundation is an Orange County nonprofit dedicated to elevating children’s literacy through the mentorship of older adults.

Through our nationally recognized Empowering Readers OC program, trained volunteers age 50 and older provide consistent, one-on-one reading tutoring and encouragement to students in grades 1–5 who are reading below grade level. Services are provided at no cost to families through partnerships with schools and youth-serving organizations across Orange County.

Our intergenerational approach creates a powerful shared impact. Children strengthen their literacy skills, confidence, and love of learning, while older adults share their time, wisdom, and experience in meaningful service.

This school year, we are preparing to serve more than 550 young readers. By bringing generations together, we are helping children become confident readers, empowering older adults with renewed purpose, and building a stronger future for our community.
