San Gabriel Valley Symphony

San Gabriel Valley Symphony

A new orchestra for a new generation — locally rooted, fandom driven.
ALHAMBRA, CA

A new orchestra for a new generation — locally rooted, fandom driven in the San Gabriel Valley and Southern California.

We create live experiences around the music people grew up loving from anime, video games and film. We believe this music deserves more than the occasional one-night event. It deserves a permanent home in America.

We want to build something different: an orchestra whose musicians, artists, collaborators, and audiences are genuinely part of this culture in the epicenter — Southern California.

What We Are Building

Since launching in 2025, the San Gabriel Valley Symphony has presented four flagship concerts and 20+ mini concerts and we want to not only continue this work, but expand even bigger than before.

We want the San Gabriel Valley Symphony to become the go-to option for video game and anime publishers when they want to produce a concert. We want to elevate the SoCal anime/video game community through the symphony orchestra.

We're currently run by a team of volunteers who want this to becoming something bigger than ourselves. Running an orchestra is expensive. It took tremendous sacrifice from my team of volunteers to accomplish Season 1 and now we need your help to expand SGV Symphony.

Your pledge goes directly to funding:

  • Increasing artist and musician compensation
  • Licensing fees and arrangements
  • Venue and production costs for Season 2
  • Marketing and outreach

About the San Gabriel Valley Symphony

The San Gabriel Valley Symphony is a performing arts ensemble dedicated to serving the San Gabriel Valley and the broader Southern California region through live music that meets people where they are, with a focus on contemporary repertoire from film, video games, and popular media rather than the traditional orchestral canon. Its work reflects a region shaped by strong Asian American and Latino cultural influence, alongside the broader mix of communities and immigrant experiences that define both the San Gabriel Valley and Southern California’s contemporary cultural landscape.

As part of the SGV Performing Arts Association, alongside SGV Winds and SGV Jazz, the Symphony contributes to a broader cultural platform that places live performance at the center of community life and brings music into the everyday spaces that define the region.

History

Founded in May 2025 as a special initiative of Arts Bridging the Gap, the San Gabriel Valley Symphony was established in living memory of the victims of the Monterey Park mass shooting, with a commitment to community resilience and the unifying power of live music. Its inaugural season featured four flagship concerts, including its debut performance at the Barnes Park Amphitheatre honoring the Monterey Park community, alongside more than twenty smaller performances presented throughout the San Gabriel Valley in partnership with local businesses and organizations. During this time, the Symphony also established a residency at the Mission Playhouse, further anchoring its presence in the region’s cultural life.

Through this work, it has rapidly built a broad coalition of artists, partners, and audiences, positioning itself as one of the fastest-growing cultural institutions in California and advancing a vision of the San Gabriel Valley as a leading center for arts and culture.
