The Veterans Emergency Assistance Program (“VEAP”) was established by the Tustin American Legion Post 227 in 2018. The purpose of the VEAP program is to provide local area U.S. Veterans (“Requestors”) with temporary emergency funding for unforeseen, temporary emergencies in the event that funding from other sources may not be easily obtained or readily available. Requestors typically come to us from outside referrals. Examples of potential referral sources are the Tierney Center for Veteran Services, the Tustin Police Department, the Tustin Senior Center, the Tustin Community Foundation, the Tustin Chamber of Commerce, the Orange County Rescue Mission / Tustin Veterans Outpost, and other local community services organizations.
We raise the funds to make the VEAP program viable through a variety of sources including Corporate and Individual Donors, Community Fundraisers and our highly successful annual American Legion Golf Tournament.
