About the Conference
Survival Is a Group Project begins with a simple truth: we have always survived together.
Inspired by the legacy of rent parties and other mutual-aid traditions, the Massachusetts Women of Color Network’s 9th Annual Conference centers the ways communities have long shared resources, cared for one another, and created joy in the face of hardship.
At a time when resources are scarce, systems feel overwhelming, and people are stretched thin, this gathering brings together those who know, study, practice, and live collective survival.
Together, we will explore how culture, creativity, and care help communities make a way out of no way, while creating space to share stories, skills, and possibilities; honoring what we’ve inherited, naming what we’re navigating, and imagining what survival can look like when it is rooted in shared responsibility, dignity, and joy.
