Hurricane Lane • Hawaii Relief and Rebuild

Hurricane Lane, has dropped more than 19 inches of rain on Hawaii's Big Island and is positioned to batter Maui and Oahu over the next several days.  The center of the storm is expected to move very close to the main islands or cross land through Friday.  Forecasters are warning of destructive winds and as much as 30 inches of rain and powerful ocean surge.  

The governor has declared a state of emergency for all schools on the Big Island and Maui County are closed until further notice. 

The Givsum Foundation has teamed up with ITDRC and other emergency response organizations to 1) provide relief for those immediately impacted by the hurricane and 2) set aside long-term dollars for rebuilding destroyed regions.   The Givsum Foundation will provide updated benchmarks and deliverables for all monies delivered to assist in this crisis and will report back the success of the campaign through regular newsletters and social media.
