Campaign Overview

The Rotary Club of Raleigh is proud to launch the America 250 Oak City Tree Campaign, a living legacy to celebrate the nation’s 250th anniversary and Raleigh’s rich heritage as the “City of Oaks.” Through this campaign, we will plant 250 oak trees across our community, creating a healthier, greener Raleigh for generations to come.

With the support of our nonprofit partners—Trees for the Triangle and Plant It Forward—and in partnership with the City of Raleigh, we are making a long-term impact on our urban canopy, environment, and community.

🌟 Ceremonial Tree Plantings

As part of this historic campaign, the Rotary Club of Raleigh will host three ceremonial oak tree plantings at landmark locations. These events will symbolize community unity, environmental stewardship, and a lasting tribute to history:

1. City of Raleigh at Moore Square

   • Date: October 13th, 2025 @12:15 PM

   •  Description: This kickoff event will mark the official start of the campaign with a ceremonial oak tree planted in Moore Square, one of Raleigh’s most historic public spaces.

2. Historic Oakwood Cemetery – Veterans Section

   • Date: Veterans Day, November 11, 2025

   • Description: Honoring our veterans, an oak tree will be planted in the Veterans section of Historic Oakwood Cemetery, serving as a living tribute to their sacrifice and service.

3. Governor’s Executive Mansion Grounds

   • Date: TBD, 2026

   • Description: An oak tree will be planted on the grounds of North Carolina’s Executive Mansion, symbolizing the partnership between Rotary, the State, and the people of North Carolina in building a strong, resilient future.

🌳 How You Can Help

You can be part of this historic campaign by sponsoring a tree:

• $250 – Sponsor an Oak Tree with a certificate of recognition

• $1,000+ – Become a City Street Tree or higher-level sponsor with lasting recognition

• $50 – Purchase a commemorative "America 250 Tree Bow" to decorate a oak tree for July 4th, 2026.

Every contribution helps us plant trees that improve air quality, capture carbon, provide shade, support wildlife, and enrich our community.

📍 Tracking Our Impact

Every tree planted through this campaign will be mapped with GIS technology so donors and the community can see the location and legacy of each tree.
