Basic sailing experience is required. Attendance for only the classroom sessions in the morning for those lacking any sailing experience may be arranged. Guests must be members of a boating program. New members of the SCST programs (Mariners or Mariner Juniors) must have completed enrollment prior to attendance in the clinic..

This clinic is for Mariners, Junior Mariners, and guests who have a basic knowledge of sailing that are interested in learning the basics of small sailboat racing. Topics will include basic racing for single handed (Tera and Laser), and double handed (420, FJ and Capri) dinghies. Sailors will learn the basic rules of racing, as well as the race starting sequence, sighting the start Line and racing around marks and buoys. This clinic will provide sailors with skills needed to compete in the Dana Point Soda Pop Series held on Wednesday afternoons during the summer. Members of the UC Irvine Sailing Team will be at the clinic to assist our sailors and provide sailing demonstrations.

This clinic is not a Free sail event.

Pizza lunch will be provided for all sailors, instructors, and volunteers.
