Cupertino Bhubaneswar Sister City Initiative (CBSCI)

CBSCI is an independent, community-based nonprofit dedicated to building meaningful connections between Cupertino, California and Bhubaneswar, India. Through immersive exchange programs spanning arts, culture, student enrichment, and technology, we foster genuine friendship and collaboration between the people of both cities.

Our community is inclusive and welcoming — bringing together not just the Odia community, but the broader Indian and American communities across Cupertino and the Bay Area. We believe that cultural exchange strengthens us all, and our programs reflect that spirit of openness. 

What We Do

Our exchange initiatives span three core pillars — Art & Culture, Youth & Education, and Trade & Technology — along with a growing range of collaborative efforts between the two cities. These initiatives come to life through signature programs including our High School Exchange, which connects young minds across borders, and our Cultural Arts Exchange, which celebrates the rich heritage of both communities.

Our Events

Throughout the year, CBSCI brings the community together through vibrant and meaningful events, including the India Independence Day Flag Raising, the Heritage India Faire featuring Konark India Festival, the Youth Leadership Summit, the US-India Symposium, Odisha Day, and many more. Each event is an opportunity to celebrate shared values, deepen cross-cultural understanding, and inspire the next generation of global citizens.

Our Team

We are a lean, passionate organization — led by 5 executive board members and officers, supported by a dedicated team of 5 key members, and powered by 30+ adult and student volunteers from Cupertino and neighboring cities throughout the Bay Area. Our flat organizational structure keeps us agile, efficient, and deeply connected to the communities we serve.
