"John Dahlem played a pivotal role in my personal and professional life. He was far more than a wrestling coach—he was a life coach! In high school, he asked what I wanted to do with my life. Learning that I excelled in math and accounting, he connected me with his father, Maurie Dahlem, who encouraged me toward public accounting. I joined Peat Marwick (later KPMG) in 1979 and retired as CFO 44 years later. John continued supporting me throughout my career and life. He was always there for us through major family and career milestones. To this day, I can’t fathom where he found the time, energy and had the recollection and organizational skills to do so.  John Dahlem was bigger than life and simply the most loving and giving man I have known! Education was always #1 to John, making this scholarship a fitting tribute."
