Event Information:

Spend your day on the beach by Kerckhoff Marine Laboratory for a Styrofoam Cup Decorating & Sand Castle Building Event! The Kerckhoff Marine Lab is one of the longest running marine laboratories on the West Coast, and for the first time in decades, they're opening their doors to the public! Come decorate a styrofoam cup that will be sent on a real research expedition led by four female scientists exploring deep sea methane vents. On the voyage, the cups will be crushed by the ocean pressure, leaving you with a fun souvenir that will be given back to you at our return event August 12th! Bring the whole family to interact with live ocean critters, learn about marine research, delve into your creative side, and swim in some awesome raffle prizes!

Parking Information:

Please note that there is no parking available at the event location. We kindly request all attendees to utilize the public street parking spaces along Ocean Blvd, which is located on top of the hill. Conveniently, there is a staircase on Ocean Blvd that provides easy access to China Cove, the area for the event. We also will have a shuttle to take you up andd down the hill. We appreciate your cooperation and look forward to seeing you at the Kerckhoff Marine Lab!

Other Information:
We want everyone to have a fun and safe time at this event, so please bring your own water bottles, sunscreen, beach chairs and towels, and feel free to bring your own buckets and shovels to show off your sandcastle-building skills!
